Reliance Communications is India’s second largest telecom company and largest internet company with around a million broadband subscribers.
Reliance Communications has today entered into a strategic agreement with five leading laptop manfacturers – HCL, Intel, Acer, Asus and Lenovo to offer its customers free laptops along with their new internet connections.
RCOM customers can now buy sub-laptops packaged with RCOM’s Net Connect data card services. It will be available to customers for a monthly fee of Rs 1,500 over two years. More details regarding availability, schemes and pricing are expected to be released shortly.
“The growth of internet services in India is one of the key visions of Reliance Communications. The next phase of growth of internet penetration in the country is linked to the growth in PC and laptop penetration“. stated Mahesh Prasad, President, RCOM.

October 23, 2008 at 9:47 pmBut I guess they’ll be really lame netbook PCs / ones with Celeron processor and teeny amount of RAM – plus the data plan won’t probably be unlimited. So for the amount you pay in total, you get a sucky laptop with a not-so-fast connection (remember, it’s over their CDMA network). Not very enticing, but yeah, I might increase net penetration because of the monthly scheme option.
